Ever Learning

Canadian Picture Books

I love picture books. I love the covers, the art, the words, the ideas, the characters and I always check out where the author and illustrator are from and when the book was published.

Even though my kids are technically significantly past “picture book age,” I almost always go through the children’s library on my way out of the building. It’s on its own floor so it’s not like I’m just passing by:). There is something wonderful about the bright colours, the different styles.

Canada has some wonderful books! Some take us to different parts of the country, letting us in on cultures and traditions. Others are written by Canadian authors and are about other things entirely.

Here are some of the former. Stories that transport us to different corners of this vast country and to many places in between. Stories that give us the experience of times past and the stories of those who lived them.

Many of these are relatively well-known and if not in your library already, can likely be requested as a loan.

Enjoy…
